I run Live 11 on

I run Live 11 on a fairly powerful M2 MacBook Pro. I had been having glitching (temporary moments of no audio) which sucks live onstage. It has taken me a long time but I finally found a fix thanks to a coworker who found this in a gaming forum.

I was buffering at 512. He told me to change it to 128 (or even lower). Apparently the M2 Macs like to reserve RAM for other apps even if you aren’t using any. If you bump buffering down to 128, the computer works a little harder but nothing it isn’t capable of.

I ran a glitchy test set from last week which had dropped out a few times onstage. Now at 128 it ran flawlessly 6 times in a row (I wanted to be SURE). This knocked my CPU usage down from an alarming 40-60% to a much more reasonable 8-16% even with warping.

This has been a prolonged battle and I finally feel like I found the problem. What a difference in my quality of life!! No one at Ableton or Apple had anything to offer in all the times I reached out, although they did their best and they are great people. I’be gone from angry and defeated to absolutely ecstatic! ????????????
